Cheap Drinks, Great Food & Free Parking: The Michigan Pedaler’s new home to start and end rides is a winner
While riding The Michigan Pedaler has numerous advantages… one of them takes place before you even step on the bike!
New for 2019, all our rides will begin and end at McShane’s Irish Pub and Whiskey Bar, conveniently located at the corner of Michigan and Trumbull – a familiar street corner to long-time Detroiters. Until 2000, the corner of Michigan and Trumbull was synonomous with the Detroit Tigers as the team played at the ballfield just across the street from McShane’s since 1896.
So, what does this mean to Michigan Pedaler riders? Let’s walk through all the advantages to starting your pedal bar tour at McShane’s and with The Michigan Pedaler.
McShane’s Whiskey Bar, located in the room off of the Trumbull entrance.
Free & Easy Parking
The Michigan Pedaler is the only party bike in Detroit to offer free parking to its guests. Guests are welcome to park in the McShane’s lot on the Southwest corner of Michigan and Trumbull for free.
There are two ways this works:
Compare this to paying $15 to $40 PER CAR in the heart of downtown or around the stadiums. Your savings quickly add up and puts extra cash in your pocket to enjoy at bars on your ride.
An Irish Bar = Fun Times
McShane’s is a traditional Irish Bar – do we need to say more?
The main floor at McShane’s is spacious enough to fit groups of any size!
You might know McShane’s for being one of the best pre-game hangouts in the city. Maybe you’ve even seen one of their buses taking fans to and from sporting events and concerts throughout the city. They have a classic menu with popular bar favorites while having entrées and sandwiches with an Irish authenticity that you’d be hard pressed to find anywhere else in the city. Check out their menu here!
Meanwhile, you can find over 20 beers on tap plus an extensive whiskey list. All of this can be enjoyed over a game of pool around the whiskey bar, or around TVs catching the latest sporting events! You can also enjoy $3 domestic pints whenever the Tigers are playing, home or away.
Recently, McShane’s was honored as one of the Top 50 Irish Bars in the United States. You can read about that here!
Enjoy the Outdoors
Summer nights are best spent outside. With a large outdoor patio that includes corn hole, winding down after the ride with the moon and city lights around you gives you a great way to keep the fun going late into the night.
There’s always something
McShane’s is hardly a bar though that just turns on the TV to entertain you. They constantly have special events going on – almost seven days a week all year. Whether its Open Mic Night, Trivia, Karaoke, Trivia, Comedy Nights, there is some sort of live entertainment almost every evening. Drink and food specials accompany each affair. Check out their calendar of events here.
Being an Irish Bar, McShane’s makes sure everyone knows how to properly celebrate St. Patrick’s Day on March 17th by “practicing” each month on the 17th, or “St. Practice Day”. Every month, special events encircle the 17th to make sure the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day can be enjoyed all year long.
Large Groups and Corporate Outings
McShane’s outside patio is the perfect place to hang out before a Tigers game.

Did I ride you guys before? I can’t remember! Where did you start before?
For our first three years, we started our rides at Bookies Bar and Grille near Comerica Park. The people at Bookies, from Jay the owner to Matt the Manager to all the bartenders and staff were great people to partner with. We enjoyed our time and our relationship with them. In fact, Bookies is one of our Partner Bars for 2019. We will be stopping at Bookies all the time and letting people enjoy their rooftop deck. So, if you are a Pedaler Alumnus who rode with us in 2016-2018 and liked Bookies, make sure to ask your driver to include Bookies in your ride itinerary!
